Ramesh is the Chairman and Founder of Layam Group. Headquartered in Chennai with presence across India and Melbourne, Australia, the company specializes in recruitment, contract manufacturing, white collar/blue collar staffing, training, and business consulting. With over 42 years of industry experience, strategic management, business expansion and operations management, Ramesh continues to contribute to various functional roles like evaluation of business process, identifying vital business challenges and creating practical solutions with cost effective models. His deep ingress into the financial performance of the company coupled with his analytical skills has helped Layam Group cross the 450-crore mark today. Under his able leadership and guidance, Layam has skilled and deployed over 65,000 professionals, and established partnerships with more than 200 clients across all solutions. Today, Layam family has over 16000 associates.
‘Delivery should be the example of success’ is a self-coined motto that he has adhered to till date. Before laying the foundations of Layam, he worked with the South Korean Multinational Passenger Car Manufacturer – Hyundai Motor India Limited as Senior Vice President – HR wherein he was widely acknowledged for building Hyundai Motors India into a jewel in the crown of Hyundai worldwide. With a strong understanding of setting up and transferring a green field unit, he metamorphosed the Hyundai plant in Chennai and since then it has become a benchmark for all the MNC’s to emulate for its ‘political interference
free and astronomical productivity track record’.
Ramesh’s professional legacy can be succinctly termed as ‘Coal to Car’. Prior to joining Hyundai, he worked with one of the most respected organizations in the sub-continent the TATAs. His penchant to ‘make things happen’ can be traced back to his early days at TATA’S in 1977. Since then, he has traversed the vast expanse of human resource management, production, corporate planning, and commercial aspects in various industrial sectors such as coal, steel, specialized civil activities in thermal & hydro power projects, cement etc.
Ramesh, strongly believes in the philosophy of giving opportunity for those who have not been able to achieve their career dreams. He started Layam with the purpose of “Making their Dreams Come True.” He has helped many students/individuals from Rural background giving them an opportunity to work in MNCs and large organizations. His concept “Head Count to Brain Count” has facilitated students to work in big companies like Ashok Leyland, Toyota etc. by providing them on the job training exposure, experience and making them employable for industries.
