The Challenge
A global automotive OEM, setting up a new plant in a Tier 2 city, faced the critical challenge of scaling up its shopfloor manpower — from 30 to 300 operators — within just 45 days to meet pre launch production targets.
The location had limited ready-to-deploy talent, and production deadlines were non-negotiable.
Layamʼs Strategic Response
We activated our Hire-Train-Deploy model, built specifically for large-scale industrial expansions. Acting as an extension of their HR and plant operations team, we took complete ownership of staffing.
What We Did
- Mobilized talent from 3 nearby districts using community-level sourcing and regional field recruiters
- Conducted pre-assessments on shopfloor behavior, technical skills, and physical readiness
- Set up a 7-day accelerated training bootcamp with mock drills, safety modules, and soft skills
- Provided accommodation and transport support to ensure high joining ratio
- Deployed a dedicated onboarding team inside the clientʼs HR bay to handle last-mile execution
The Outcome
- 300 operators onboarded in 43 days, exceeding initial targets
- Achieved >92% attendance rate during first production month
- Client completed pre-launch dry runs ahead of schedule
- Layam retained as long-term staffing partner for Phase 2 expansion
